Identifying damp in homes

When you’re buying or renting a house on long term, one of the most important things to look into is whether the house has damp. Some home owners might try to hide that their house has damp problems but there are certain ways to identify it.
The smell of damp is a dead giveaway if you get a musty smell or if the owners have over-used air fresheners then you need to be on alert.
Damp patches on wall are another sign unless you come across very honest home owners they will most probably try to hide these patches therefore you can either ask them or check yourself
Peeling wallpaper is also another sign of damp issues
If the property seem as if it is not properly ventilated then you may come across condensation issues.
It is always advisable to check whether the property is damp proofed before purchasing it.
